Why do I do the things I do.

I've been thinking a lot about blogging lately. Not doing much of it, but thinking a lot about it. I've had a week from hell a work, and I've been pretty much ignoring my blog. This makes me feel a little guilty. But why? My blog is a hobby. I do it when I feel like it and lately I just haven't felt like it. I'm not letting anyone down with my posting silence.

So why do I blog? I'm not doing it to make money, I don't host advertising of any kind. I'm not doing it because my audience demands it. I'm not writing about matters of great importance to anyone except me. I tend to think of this blog more as an outlet for my thoughts. A high tech journal if you will. I also think it is a bit like a scrapbook for the kids, a place to keep track of all the really cute, really sweet, really aggravating and really funny things they do. Over time it has grown, I've picked up readers who leave comments that make my day. I no longer feel like I'm talking to myself here, and I've developed this little sense of a parenting community when I write. I feel understood.

But when I think about it, my motivation for blogging boils down to one single thing. A desire to become the subject of international adoration. It's that simple.

Me too, all of it. ;) But the adoration just isn't happening very fast.

I took a three month break when I had my son last year. I seriously was just done with blogging. I came back and everyone was still here when I did.

I came here originally because of your handle, because our lives were pretty dog-centric at that point. However, I am now finding that your blog helps to spur some much-needed discussions with the husband regarding "what would you do if our child does/says this?" in light of our current situation. As for your international popularity, I hope it counts that you have a fan here in the International City of Lorain, Ohio!

International adoration? You crack me up! I need to get loftier goals. Here I was content to shoot for National adoration.

Well I promise that when I win the Lottery I will purchase a lovely apartment in Paris specifically so that I can fly over and read your blog and adore you internationally.

I know that my sister in law reads you. And since she lives in the UK then you are officially internationally adored!
