Dream a little dream

The other night I had a dream. Or maybe it was more of a nightmare. Whatever it was it was vivid. See, in my dream I was working in a bar I used to frequent in San Francisco. I was filling in for someone or moonlighting or something, but I was there. The bar had been being robbed by a team of attackers. More than just robbing the bar, they would also assault the bar staff.

As I was finishing up my shift, the assailants entered the bar. They started by targeting the bartender. As I tried to sneak by, looking for my purse and car key that was not in my purse for some reason in the dream, they changed their focus to me. They started in with physical attacks. I was beaten with a cane and then a heavy wooden ball attached to a rope. Between beatings they taunted me. They found my purse and robbed the till.

At some point, they moved me to a new location, a secret room that contained a swamp. In the middle of the swamp there was a large bird nest on a pedestal. Some kind of bird of prey was sitting on a clutch of eggs. They pelted me with dead kittens (yeah, I don't know where that came from, apparently I have a very sick mind) and told me I had to throw the kittens to the bird in the nest. When I did, a crocodile jumped out of the water and snatched the kitten out of the air. All of a sudden I was terrified of the crocodiles swimming in the water and saw their dark shapes swimming near me in the muck. And the robbers insisted that I had to keep tossing the kittens to the bird.

And while all of this was going on, as each new layer of danger was revealed, all I could think was "Thank God they didn't find my car key so I can still get home after all of this is done."

Anyone up for dream analysis?

I have no idea! Maybe you have some fears of the meanness in some people. People can be creatively cruel, you know.

Poor you. And poor kitties.

Wow. That is some terrifying dream.

I don't know what it means. Maybe it means that you fear being judged. Maybe it means that you feel like you are taking a beating sometimes by those sinister around you. Maybe you feel like you are being forced to do something that you feel is wrong, but you have no choice.

Dreams are weird. I once had a dream where I was supposed to save a baby's life, but I was too late, and the baby turned into a potato chip with a face. What does that mean?

Oh WOW. I thought I had weird dreams, but this beats them all! No interpretation skills here, just some amazement at your dream-imagination!!!

Wow, weird but yet oddly funny, with the dead kitten throwing. Not that dead kittens are funny, but somehow they are in this context.

I think it means that you need an afternoon at the spa at squaw creek when you visit, leaving the dads to mind the fort?!

I think this dream has to do with a situation in your life that has changed and you are trying to figure out whether you have been dealing with it in the right way.

A bar is supposed to be a pleasurable environment where you can go and relax. But it has been robbed which means that things aren’t the way you expected them to be. In addition, being attacked in a dream can be a sign that you feel that you need to be punished about something, so you might feel that it’s your fault that you got yourself in that situation. However, the fact that you didn’t take your car keys with you can mean that you are trying to avoid responsibility, or that you are afraid that if you take on more responsibility you will mess things up. – If you had taken your car keys, your attackers could have gotten them which would have made things worse.

Regarding the kitten part, a kitten is a small, delicate, new thing that needs to be protected and nurtured. The robbers forcing you to throw the kittens to the bird and the crocodile eating the kitchen can mean that there is a part of yourself that you feel you might have developed more but haven’t had the opportunity or chose to ignore it, or that there was a project you wished to complete or a goal you wanted to achieve but you are destorying the opportunity. Perhaps this led to the situation you are in now, or perhaps you are afraid that if you continue to ignore this part of you or this project you want to begin you will find yourself in a situation where you feel hopeless and victimized.

A swamp in a dream can mean that you are having difficulty getting past obstacles to reach your goal.

I think that it probably means lots of things, but the whole time this stuff is happening, you take comfort in the fact that somewhere you still have your car key so you can get out of this mess eventually. I think that indicates that no matter how many crazy things are happening to you and around you, you'll always find a way to escape it eventually.
