Luckily it soon got better

Never underestimate the power of take out burritos and a store bought chocolate cake. These simple purchases retrieved Mr. Dog's birthday evening from the pits of my great dane's bowels.
When cake was served, Little Dog wanted to sing to Mr. Dog. From his angelic looking face (though we do know better, we often forget) the song started sweetly
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to Papa
and then it turned
You smell like a monkey
and you look like one too!
His wicked smile proved he was proud of his song.

Next was Big Dog.
"So do you want this with the cha-cha-cha or without?" he asked enigmatically.
Mr. Dog considered and decided on with.
"Ok," agreed Big Dog. And he began.
Happy birthday to you. cha-cha-cha
Happy birthday to you. cha-cha-cha
Happy birthday dear papa,
Happy birthday to you. cha-cha-cha
Then due to a forgotten cha-cha-cha he sang it again, properly punctuating each line with a heartfelt cha-cha-cha.
Does it get any better than this? I think not. (Though I will be doing my best to upstage the singing and when I take Mr. Dog out on a child-free birthday date this weekend.)

Personally, I've always liked the birthday song with the bits about monkeys and smells. Happy Birthday to Mr. Dog. Enjoy your time alone!
