I have so much to be thankful for. My family, my job, my health, just to name a few. My husband is amazing, kind and funny, smart and sexy. The boys, they are healthy, clever and a great source of amusement. My family is supportive and loving and they take great joy in spending time with us. And have I mentioned they babysit? How does one woman get to be so lucky? Honestly, I have no idea. I guess I could write about the millions of ways my family is there for me, the ways the kids are wonderful and the ways my husband lights up my life (to borrow a phrase from Debby Boone). I could, but maybe I'll write about some of the smaller things for which I am thankful.
I am thankful for the invention of Transformers. How else would I exercise both my fine motor skills and my self control as I refrain from pitching the overpriced piece of complex plastic out the window.
I am thankful for Little Dog's grumpy wake up tantrum. It gives me the opportunity to verify my full range of hearing is still functioning properly. I can happily report that both high and low tones are well within my capability. And frankly it is somewhat amazing Little Dog can make all of these sounds.
I am thankful for the dogs that keep me from oversleeping. Anytime I may be tempted to ignore their initial request, Dashiell is more than happy to clean my face with his Great Dane sized tongue since his head is right at bed height, even with the bed on risers.
I am thankful for my husband's teasing about my ability to sleep through anything. It just reminds me of all of the unpleasant middle of the night tasks I get to skip because I am not likely to be the first responder.
I am thankful for my mom and dad's demonstrated nuttiness. It shows me that even as I get older, I will not be at risk of losing my mind. They are no more weird now than they were when I was growing up.
For all of this, and much much more, I am thankful. Now go eat some stuffing and quit surfing the web.
