Sometimes scary things happen. Even to adults. Medical incidents take us by surprise. Go to work supposedly well, leave in an ambulance in need of treatment.
Something like this happened the other day to someone I know. A nice person with a nice family. The kind of person that makes you smile when you see them in the hall. One of the good ones. And while this person is likely to make a full recovery, it will probably take some time. At the time, no one knew what had happened, we just knew to call 911. And because we were all caught so off guard, it has really shaken me up.
So what do I know now? Not much. I've been reminded to keep on hugging my kids like it's going out of style. More importantly I've been reminded to update my emergency contact info. You should too.

Good post - esp. about the emergency contact. Last year my (36 y/o) husband had a heart attack. And being the non-cell phone user that I was - I had NOBODY'S number! I had no way to call his mom or sister. I ended up calling my sister in Texas (we were in Colorado) and she had to message my sister-in-law on Facebook to call me!
Thanks for posting this. I just opened up a emergency contact file at work so that if something happend we will be better prepared.
Thanks so much!
