The mysterious case of the diaper in the night

In the wee hours of the night, Little Dog called out for help. He'd wet his pull up and because he'd been chugging water and milk all afternoon it was good and soaked. As were his pajamas. Mr. Dog got him and helped him into a dry diaper and dry jammies then tucked him into bed with us. But he couldn't find the wet diaper. Because he didn't want to wake a sleeping mommy (a very wise policy indeed) he got his flashlight and spent about 15 minutes trying to find the missing pull up. After a bit, he chalked it up to exhaustion and went back to bed.

This morning when he joined me upstairs he warned me of the missing pull up. Since I have recently dealt with the remains of a pull up that got tossed into the washing machine with a load of laundry and know that my adorable Great Dane thinks diapers are delicious chew toys, I was not surprised. Not pleased, but not surprised. I figured we'd find it in a day or two, commiserate over the disgusting discovery and move on. No big deal.

A bit later, Little Dog headed off to the bathroom for his morning pee pee in the potty (like a big boy!). After I heard the toilet flush not once, not twice but three times and other sounds of mischievous preschooler activities I asked Mr. Dog to go check on him. He found our younger son gleefully flushing giant wads of toilet paper. He likes that activity quite a bit. He also found the discarded pajama pants and pull up he was wearing when he got up. And he also found the missing pull up inside the second pull up he'd put on in the middle of the night. Apparently in his state of late night disorientation he'd forgotten one essential step of changing diapers, removing the wet one first.

That is too funny! Have mercy I'm glad I'm past the diaper stage!

OK that is pretty funny! You would think he had changed enough diapers by now to have figured that one out!

OH MY! We have moved to Underjams. They are thinner but also can hold the 40 gallons of water/milk that Bacon has consumed in the 20 minutes before bed. I found myself wondering the other day - as I was cleaning the pull up out of the wash - if this will ever end. I really don't think that it will.
